Q: So what is this WikiWikiWeb thing exactly?
A: A set of pages of information that are open and free for anyone to edit as they wish. They are stored in a database and managed using some PERL CGI scripts. The system creates cross-reference hyperlinks between pages automatically. (See also QwikWiki, OriginalWiki)
Q: So what happens if two of us try to edit the page simultaneously?
A: The first save wins. The subsequent conflicting saves are presented with the opportunity to merge in their changes.
Q: What is the best place - for a newbie - to start using/exploring a wikiwiki ?
A: Try GoodStyle (notes for editing Wiki pages), TextFormattingRules and WikiWikiSandBox
Q: I cannot seem to get graphics to work. What do I do?
A: Just type the url of a gif or jpeg that has been posted on another server.
Q: When I do that, does the image have to stay on that other server, or does it get copied over to Wiki's server?
A: Since it is a Wiki:TransClusion, it remains on the foreign server.
Q: Can just anyone edit these pages?
A: Yes. And anyone can edit out inappropriate changes.
Q: Are there any other such products/concepts?
A: See Wiki:WikiWikiClones.
Q: How do I delete a page?
A: When a page is no longer mentioned on any other pages, it may be deleted by saving a "blank" copy of the page.
Q: How can I make it easier for someone to figure out which parts of a page I changed?
A: See Wiki:RecentChangesOnaWikiPage.
